Playa del Duque Description
Playa del Duque is a newly built resort on the Costa Adeje and it is a well maintained, with easy access to all surrounding areas. It has a quieter and more reserved atmosphere than other resorts in Tenerife and is also very good for water sports. You can easily get into Playa de las Americas by bus when you want to sample the local nightlife.
This more up market area is more suited to people not wanting intense night life but a more refined holiday enjoying the good location, fine restaurants and good facilities
The majority of hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes and shopping centres are of a high class quality.
Most of the hotels in the resort are very large and tend to be either 4 or 5 star high class hotels
Playa del Duque Location
- Playa del Duque is located 3.5 km to the North west of Playa de las Americas with Playa de Fanabe, Torviscas and Puerto de Colon in between. A pleasant sea front promenade is available for most of this sea front.
- In the other direction a trail along the front leads to the next town, La Caleta
- 30 km south of Los Gigantes.
Transfers from Tenerife Airports to Playa del Duque
The nearest airport is Tenerife Airports
Bus
Although this is by far the cheapest method. Unless you are on a very tight budget we do not recommend it for the following reasons:
- You have to change buses at Costa Adeje Bus Station from Tenerife South Airport
- You have to change buses at Santa Cruz and Costa Adeje Bus Station from Tenerife North Airport
- The 416 service from Playa de las Americas to Playa del Duque at its best is a 40 minute service between buses.
- Possible distance to walk with luggage from one of the two bus stops (See map for there location)
Airport hotel transfers
This is now an extremely popular method of travel from or to the airport and your hotel or apartment complex.and you have the choice of a few transfer options such as shuttle, private transfer and taxi.
The shuttle options are the lowest price method of transfer door to door.
Package holiday transfer time to Tenerife South airport
Package holiday transfer time to or from Tenerife South airport takes between 35 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on hotel drop off / pick up order.
Playa del Duque Beaches
The medium sized beach of Playa del Duque was originally composed of black volcanic sand, but since then golden sand has been imported and now many say that this is the best beach on the island.
The northern end of the beach is made from large round black pebbles with a small section which is a mix of sand and pebble.
The beach has sun loungers and parasols for hire and toilets, changing rooms and showers. The beach is backed by a wide promenade that continues almost all the way to Los Cristianos.
There are several bars cafes and restaurants overlooking the beach.
